
Orthodontics
The
definition of orthodontics is the treatment to correct the position
of the teeth and jaw.
Achieved by:
- Fixed appliances (braces) placed externally on the tooth. It may be metallic or ceramic.
- With mobile devices which have the potential be removed and thoroughly washed themselves and teeth.
- With transparent aligners (aligners)
Orthodontic
treatment starts at 8 years and if the periodontium is healthy, it
can be done at any age.
Usually it will be completed in two years after the end of treatment. The patient wears Retentive holders for fixing the position of the teeth until 15 years, when will be decided the fate of impacted molars where available.
